Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Laws [B.A.L.L.B.] is a dual degree professional course in administrative law.  BA LLB is a five-year course. Eligibility Of the Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Laws [B.A.L.L.B.]

The eligibility conditions for BA LLB course is scoring minimum aggregate marks as per the requirement of the institute in senior secondary examination or equivalent examination from a recognized board. The general entry route to this program is through an entrance exam.

Since entrance exam is the preferred mode, the candidates with their results awaited in senior secondary examination are permitted to apply for the course. In some institutes, direct admission is another entrance route offered to this course.

The common entry to BA LLB goes through entrance exam. The entrance tests for this purpose are CLAT, LSAT, and AILET.

After entrance, some institutes also conduct personal interviews for final selection. There are a few institutes like C. Bhimasen Rao National College of Law, Karnataka which offer direct admission in this course on the basis of merit list.

The top entrance exams for BA LLB are:

  • AILET: Said to be conducted in January 2019, this exam is a national level exam and its scores are largely accepted everywhere. The questions in this test are asked from Current Affairs, English, Reasoning, Mathematics and Legal Aptitude.

  • CLAT: Conducted on a rotational basis by 19 NLUs in May, this exam is meant for admission in law course. The syllabus for this test encompasses Current Affairs, English, Reasoning, Mathematics and Legal Aptitude.

  • LSAT: This paper pencil bases entrance test is conducted by LSAC for admission in various law programs across the country. Nearly 76 colleges accept LSAT score for admission to BA LLB course. The syllabus for this test encompasses Analytic reasoning, logical reasoning and reading comprehension.

Selection Process:

The selection process goes through two routes: direct admission and entrance tests. The institutions taking direct admission select the students on the basis of merit list.

The institution that prefers the entrance test as admission accept the scores of entrance test for law programs like CLAT, AILET and LSAT. Some universities like GGSIPU may conduct their own entrance test.

After clearing the entrance, some institutes may require the qualified candidates to appear for an interview for the selection process. Finally, a counselling procedure takes place and seats are allotted on the basis of accumulated scores.

L.L.B. or Bachelor of Legislative Law is an undergraduate law course offered by various Indian universities. There are two options to pursue LLB course. One LLB course duration is 3-year for which the minimum eligibility criterion is graduation and the other is the integrated course of 5-year duration for undergraduate students. The course is divided into six semesters in most of the law universities and admission to the same is based on entrance exams like CLAT, LAWCET to name a few.

LLB Eligibility

there is no minimum age requirement for admission to LLB course. You just have to secure minimum aggregate marks to secure admission to LLB course. LLB Admission commences in the month of January and the entrance exam is conducted around the month of May. 

LLB course is considered to be one of the most prestigious courses and various LLB career options for the same are available in both the private and public sectors. Although, most of the lawyers prefer to become an advocate and practice law as a profession. 

Law education in India was started in 1987. The BCI (Bar Council of India) is the main regulatory body of Law education in India. LLB Course Details

L.L.B. course is generally divided into six semesters. During the 3 year course, students get the LLB (General) after successful completion of 4 semesters. On the other hand, LLB degree is given to candidates only after completing 6 semesters. The basic course structure in most of the Indian Universities comprises:

How to Get Admission in Bachelor of Laws [L.L.B.]

Bachelor of Legislative Law or LLB is a 5-year duration course. The admission to this course can be attained through entrance exams conducted at national or state level. Most renowned entrance exams conducted are CLAT and AILET. AILET

LLM: What is it about?

The course enables the students to be specialized in the field of law and legal affairs of the country. This course is designed to give an overview of trademarks and trademark law and practice in countries around the world.

LLM: Eligibility

The LL.M. program can be pursued only by the students who have successfully completed their under-graduation in law i.e. LL.B/B.L. Degree/5 Year LL.B. Degree course under 10+2+5 from any recognized university with at least minimum aggregate marks as per institutes requirement. 

Certain seats are reserved or are allocated to Foreign Nationals. Students can take admission through common entrance test held by the universities.  

LLM: Admission

Generally, universities offering LL.M. course conduct an Entrance Test for admission to the program. The application forms for this course are available in the month of May every year.

The entrance test paper contains around 150 questions which can be both objective and subjective in nature. The duration of the exam is 2 hours which includes negative marking for objective type questions. The marks deducted are usually 1/4th of the marks allocated to the question.

The marking scheme is not fixed for all the universities, it may vary accordingly. The long essay type generally contains 4 questions with 25 marks each. The syllabus for LL.M. entrance exam generally covers the following topic.

Master of Laws(LLM): Selection Process

After the entrance test, various universities conduct tie-breaking round for the candidates who have scored equal marks. The candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in entrance test and tie-breaking round. Shortlisted candidates are further called for a counselling session and are then allotted respective colleges.

LLM: correspondence mode of education

Some universities offer distance education for candidates who wish to continue learning through distance education. Some universities like National Law University and Acharya Nagarjuna University offer distance education. 

LLM: Syllabus and Course Description

Students have to study some common papers in the 1st semester but from 2nd semester there are few subjects according to the specialization selected by the students. As part of the course, students also undergo an internship with Law Firms.

The weightage of internal and external marks are, generally, 60% and 40% respectively. The teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials, and presentations. The internal assessment depends upon the performances of the students in presentations, tutorials, seminars, viva, projects, assignments etc. The exams are of 100 marks each.

The foundation courses are compulsory for every student to study in 1st semester. The other optional courses are choice subjects which are selected by students according to their interest.
